Registration for 2011-2012 is Open.
To register, you will need the temporary password which is in an email containing registration instructions will be sent to the district Library Media Supervisors on August 29th for dissemination to school librarians. Private school Principals will also be emailed. If you do not receive this forwarded email by close of business on Monday August 29th please contact Katrina Figgett for instructions.
Activities and Resources Posted
The Curriculum Connections documents which include Annotations, Realia, Authors on the Internet, Food, Challenging Words, Figurative Language, Curriculum Connections for all titles have been posted on the appropriate Activities and Resources page (grades 3-5 or grades 6-8).
Other resources on that page include the bookmarks and a link to the Sunshine State Awards Books Promotion Center -- a blog created by SSYRA Committee member Josh Newhouse. Post your ideas on the blog, and pick up ideas from other school library media specialists.

Voting Dates Set
Mark your calendars now--submission of votes will take place March 19-April 27th, 2012. Note that this allows one additional week to submit votes. (You may have students vote at the school level whenever you wish). The person responsible for SSYRA at the school (usually the school librarian) must submit the votes online during the 4 week voting period. The person submitting the votes must be the same person who registered the school to participate.

The SSYRA program is facilitated through your child's school. In most cases the school library media specialist administers the program, registers the school, and organizes voting. Please see your school librarian to ask how your child can get involved in the SSYRA program. |
